Because of the large size of audio files, a traditional podcatcher will be a high capacity MP3 players (e.g. an iPod) or a desktop media player. To solve the audio file size problem, Mobiedge Newspaper v1.1 comes with a desktop helper application called "Mobiedge Newspaper Bridge". You can use Mobiedge Newspaper Bridge to download huge audio files via your PC Internet connection and convert them into AMR format. AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) is an industrial standard of audio encoding which is broadly used in today's telephone products. An audio file can be encoded into AMR format with much smaller size while keeping fairly good audio quality. For example, a 5.9Mb CBC Radio podcasting file "www_cbc_ca_quirks_media_2005-2006_mp3_qq-2005-11-05a_mp3.mp3" (64kbps mono MP3, 12 minutes and 53 seconds) can be converted into a 491Kb file in AMR, i.e. the size is reduced by more than 10 times. By using AMR converter we can make it viable for a mobile phone to support podcasting which used to require more than 100Mb of memory space.

Scenario 3: Load megabytes of contents into your phone
Want to get all your subscribed feeds going with you? Using Mobiedge Newspaper and Mobiedge Newspaper Bridge you will be all set with 3 mouse clicks and 1 button pressing:

1. Select "Update All Feeds" in the Mobiedge Newspaper Bridge (Click 1);
2. Select "Send to" (Click 2) and choose your phone (Click 3);
3. When your phone prompts that a new message arrives, press "View" to load the updated feeds;
4. Hit the road.

Overview
Mobiedge Newspaper is an RSS reader that runs on a Series 60 mobile phone. You can use it to download, read, manage and send your subscribed feeds on your phone. It allows you to get updated feeds via 2 methods:

1. To download news feeds via a wireless data service. Using this method you can get latest content anytime, anywhere.
2. To download news feeds using a PC Internet connection. You can use Mobiedge Newspaper Bridge, companion PC software, to do the job. Using this method you can load bulky contents, which are probably measured in megabytes, into your phone without paying for a wireless data service.
